Meet the Plaque Bugs—the Sugar Bugs’ sneaky cousins! While the Sugar Bugs take over the surface of the teeth, the Plaque Bugs collect Sugar Coins and bury them in the spaces between teeth where a toothbrush can’t always reach.

Your child’s mission? Floss between their teeth, collect all 12 Sugar Coins, and fill the treasure chest!

Meet the Plaque Bugs

• Level 1: Tartar Tod — hangs out around the front teeth. If his plaque coins stay too long, they become hard and crusty, making them tougher to remove.
• Level 2: Ginger Vitis — sneaks around the pointy teeth and gumline, hiding her coins where the gums meet the teeth.
• Level 3: Peter Plaque — the biggest and strongest Plaque Bug. He takes over the back molars, where food and sugar love to hide.

Floss. Find a Coin. Check It Off.

The checklist turns the steps of flossing into a visual game with a clear finish line. As your child works through each section, the pictures show them where to floss and how to move the floss around the teeth.

Each completed section earns another Sugar Coin. Kids check off the coins as they go until they’ve collected all 12 Sugar Coins and can check the final treasure chest.

Instead of an open-ended “Go floss your teeth,” kids can visually see: Where to floss → How to floss → What they’ve finished → What’s left → When they’re DONE.

Why It Matters

Flossing can be especially difficult to motivate kids to do because the payoff isn’t always obvious. The Plaque Bugs Checklist adds a visual goal and playful incentive to the routine.
